Social Media Checklist

NOTE: Read each question as you asking it of yourself, and then read each answer option as if Chalk Central is talking to you about which answer you chose (i.e., an explanation).

1. I do not use “Independent Designer” as part of the name of my social media pages, but I DO include “Independent Designer” in the About section.
  a. Yes–Compliant. While it is preferred that “Independent Designer” be a part of the page’s name, it is acceptable to use it in the About section. If you are using another name for your Chalk Couture™ Designership other than your own name (e.g., “Little Happy Cottage”) you should also identify your name in the About section, such as “Little Happy Cottage,” by Mary Johnson, Chalk Couture Independent Designer.

 b.No–Not compliant.

2.  I use my recognition title (e.g., Couturier, Mentor, Leading Designer, etc.) as part of my “Independent Designer” identifier in my social media pages.
a. Yes–Compliant. It is your choice to include your title so long as it is your current recognition title.

b. No–Compliant.

3. I am using the same social media account to demonstrate Chalk Couture product and to promote/sell other products.
Yes–Not compliant. You need to separate your Chalk Couture social media accounts from your other business interests, regardless of whether they are direct sales, retail, or other (if it generates income, including affiliate sales, it is not compliant.)

No–Compliant.

4. I am using the same social media account to promote/sell NON–Chalk Couture product, services, or business. Occasionally I post or do a live/video focused on Chalk Couture product.
Yes–Not compliant. You need to separate your Chalk Couture social media accounts from your other business interests. That even includes if you do not say or brand the activity or artwork as “Chalk Couture.” As long as you focused on promoting Chalk Couture, this is not allowed.

No–Compliant.

5. I am using a social media account to promote/see NON–Chalk Couture™ product, services, or business. Occasionally, I post or do a live/video that has a small element of Chalk Couture product relative to the overall scope and size of the project.
Yes–Compliant.

No–Compliant.

6. I am using this social media account (or website) to sell finished goods made with Chalk Couture product. The site has images, descriptions, and pricing of the finished goods, and also includes that items are made, “featuring Chalk Couture” product. The page links to my Independent Designer social media accounts.
Yes–Compliant. You can mention that goods were created using Chalk Couture product. You can also include links to your Chalk Couture Independent Designer social media pages from this page.

No–Compliant. As long as no Chalk Couture product is sold or promoted here…only finished goods.

7. The social media account I am using is for Chalk Couture only now, but has been used for other interests/business in the past.
Yes-–Not compliant. If users can scroll to see non-compliant posts on this page, it is out of compliance.

No–Compliant.

8. The social account I am using is for Chalk Couture only now but has been used for other interests/business in the past, but I have deleted all of the previous posts that were on the account.
Yes–Compliant. Note that in the future, if you leave Chalk Couture you need to delete the account.

No–Not compliant.

9. My personal social media page(s) are the same pages I use to promote my Chalk Couture™ Independant Designership (potentially including product demos/lives, business opportunity posts, customer offers, anything other than your “personal” use of products or business-related experiences such as events attended, community/friendship, etc.)
Yes–Not compliant. Your Chalk Couture Independent Designer pages should be separate from your personal pages if you choose to promote Chalk Couture business-related posts on social. You are not required to have a Chalk Couture Independent Designer page if your posts about Chalk Couture will only be of a personal nature.

No–Compliant.

10. I give away prizes during a Chalk Couture Facebook live, post, or other video that I am doing on my public Chalk Couture page(s) (said giveaway is not a Chalk Couture product).
Yes–Compliant. When offering prizes in a public setting, it is important to understand personal promotions verses advertising. “Personal promotions” are giveaways, discounts, Team incentives, etc. that involve Chalk Couture product and should be in a closed/private group setting. Advertising is a different matter. You are free to advertise and draw attention to your public social media pages and websites. You can use paid advertising and advertorial/relationships to boost activity, and you can also do giveaways, so long as those giveaways are not Chalk Couture product. Doing a giveaway of a Target card, or a finished good (which does not have Chalk Couture retail value) is considered an acceptable form of advertising for your public page.

11. I give away Chalk Couture sample kits or product (Transfers, paste, etc.) during a Chalk Couture Facebook live that I am doing on my public page, but do not verbally tell the audience that it is a Chalk Couture product.
Yes–Not compliant. Constitutes a personal promotion using Chalk Couture product, which may only be conducted in a closed group.

No-Compliant.

12. I do live sales at retail price on my Chalk Couture™ Facebook page with retired Chalk Couture product.
Yes–Not compliant, if the item is retired and you do not offer it auction style (where bidders are competing against each other live.) If offered publicly, items should be offered at original retail value. You may not close the sale/process the transaction on social media or a third party website. (Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, etc.). This can also be held in a private group. You must be currently active; former Designers may not sell or represent Chalk Couture product, including retired items.

No–Compliant.

13. I do live sales at retail price on my Chalk Couture Facebook page with currently stocked Chalk Couture product.
Yes–Compliant, as long as you follow these guidelines: item is offered at retail price; item is not offered as “limited” (i.e. “only one of these left, first person to message me gets it!”); you may not close the sale/process the transaction on social media or a third party website (Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, etc.)

No–Compliant.

14. In the About section, I link to my NON-Chalk Couture blog (or other social media accounts) that contains affiliate links and/or promotes other product from my Chalk Couture accounts.
Yes–Not compliant.

No–Compliant.

15. In the About section, I link to my NON-Chalk Couture blog (or other social media accounts) that DO NOT contain affiliate links and/or promotes other product from my Chalk Couture accounts.
Yes–Compliant.

No–Compliant.

16. I link to my Chalk Couture social media pages from my personal pages, other business pages, etc.
Yes–Compliant.

No–Compliant. Linking to your Chalk Couture sites from other businesses sites is at your discretion.

17. I am linking to non–Chalk Couture™ product that I am PROMOTING OR using during a live on my Chalk Couture SOCIAL MEDIA account.
Yes–Not compliant. You may use non–Chalk Couture product in POSTS and demos/lives, so long as they are not promoted, sold, or linked to in any way. You can tell viewers to message you if they are interested in the specifics of any other items featured.

No–Compliant.

18. I am uploading a photo or video that another Designer created to my social media accounts (personal page, Chalk Couture business page, closed groups). The content is unbranded and generic without calls to action or any identifier/connection back to the creating Designer (for example: if a leader has created a “how it works” clip showing hands using paste or a Transfer pull but with no name or face on the screen, and I’m not sharing the video from another account).
Yes–Compliant.

19. I am sharing a photo, Facebook live, or video from another Designer to my Facebook page, a Facebook group, or a Live Party Facebook group.
Yes–Not Compliant. A Designer is prohibited from sharing another Designer’s branded content.

No–Compliant.

20. I am altering the Chalk Couture logo.
Yes–Not compliant. The Chalk Couture logo cannot be altered in any way. This includes changing the color, using it as an overlay on another image, etc.

No–Compliant.

21. I am sharing a Team member’s Chalk Couture live to our Team page.
Yes–Compliant.

No–Compliant.

22. I do NOT use “Chalk Couture” as part of the name of my Chalk Couture™–focused social media pages/accounts, but I do include in the About section that I am a Chalk Couture Independent Designer.
Yes–Compliant.

No–Not compliant. Your Chalk Couture page/sites must identify you as a Chalk Couture Independent Designer. It is preferred that you do this in the About section. If you choose to use “Chalk Couture” in the NAME of your site/page/handle, you MUST also use “Independent Designer” in the name of the site/ page/ handle. Doing so, clarifies that the site/page belongs to an Independent Designer.

23. I have a podcast, blog, vlog, or similar medium where I talk about a variety and products not exclusive to Chalk Couture but including other brands, businesses, or products that I represent, sell and/or use affiliate links to. I am sharing that link to that podcast from my Chalk Couture social media accounts.
Yes–Not compliant.

No–Compliant.

24. I share my Chalk Couture videos from my Chalk Couture social media accounts to my NON–Chalk Couture business page or social media accounts.
Yes–Not compliant.
